So just as I was getting over the fear of not being able to answer, ‘what’s next?’, the ‘what’s next’ came.
During the final months of my ‘around the world track’, I chose to do my communication tour for our book ‘Sex+Money: A Global Search for Human Worth’ in New York City. As I was there to raise awareness to human trafficking, I was so encouraged to meet people that had moved from awareness to action. I connected with many organizations that are fighting against this issue, specifically sex trafficking, so I was actually able to point towards them, when our audiences would say, ‘how can I help?’
Completing my two year commitment with Youth With a Mission, I left NYC mid-March with many asking when I was moving back. I would chuckle inside, knowing that a move to New York would be a huge financial undertaking. With no job opportunities in sight, I returned to the farm in Virginia to spend some time with family and for reflection on my recent journey.
Just as I was starting to feel like a farm girl, waking to the sounds of the cows and feeding the new bull, I received an invitation to return to New York and volunteer my time to one of those organizations I had met, StopChildTraffickingNow (SCTNow), www.sctnow.org. Well that just didn’t seem very logical, but I decided to just chew on that a bit before making a decision. After a couple of weeks of prayer and wise counsel, the decision was made. I would report to work on June 1!
Through God’s grace, amazing friends and their community in New York, it has been such an awesome transition. I’m living with such a great family, Dipo and Niki, and their two dogs, Madison and Mona! Right on Central Park!
I love my work with SCTNow as well. It’s so cool that I can continue this work for the issue of trafficking and also involve my old and new friends all around the world!
SCTNow is a non-profit organization that exists to stop child trafficking by targeting the source of the issue:predators who drive the sex industry everywhere in the world, including in our local communities. The SCTNow Walk is becoming an international event, taking place on September 27, 2009, with the flagship walk here in New York City. We want to rally walkers from many cities and college campuses for this public demonstration of action towards a solution. Our partnership program works to unite other anti-trafficking organizations addressing aspects such as rehabilitation, reintegration, and prevention, to end child slavery.
I’ve committed to stay on until early October, and honestly I hope that my time working in New York will continue even further.
If you have a heart for this issue, for the children, please join in this walk. Whether you actually walk in a city near you, you sponsor another walker, or just tell someone else about it, it all counts!
Please contact me directly for more information regarding the SCTNow Walk, or go to our website and check out the cities that are being added weekly! www.sctnow.org

Thanks so much for your prayers and encouragement! Those mean so much to me!
